Rupert Pontin - Director

Rupert has been involved in the Motor Trade since before leaving school. A period of Retail Sales with The Kenning Motor (Austin Rover) group in Surrey and then Coombs BMW was followed by a move to the legendary Glass's Guide (Eurotax Glass).

During the 9 years that followed Rupert was Guide Editor for the Caravan Guide followed by a period as a Project Manager successfully launching the Older Car Guide, Glass’s Guide to Fleet Values and AutoProVision, the residual Value Forecasting product. He then became the Specialist Car Editor for Glass’s Guide to Car Values, researching the the UK motor trade in great depth with specific attention placed on auction process, retail dealer sales and vehicle valuations. This produced a significant contact base within all areas of the motor trade from dealers to manufacturers and was coupled with National press and media coverage for many years.

Rupert moved to British Car Auctions in 2001 and took over the wholesale remarketing department run under contract by BCA for Audi UK. Between 2001 and the last quarter of 2008, he managed a team that sold in excess of 38,500 cars to the trade. In addition he continued to work closely with many of the major maunufacturers and leasing and contract hire companies.

Between 2005 and 2009 the development of bespoke online Remarketing Solutions, Major Auction Account Management and the Wholesale Department were also in his remit and in 2008 management of the Wholesale Selling Service on behalf of Jaguar and Land Rover.
